In this lab, Mrs. Parker looks at how genes and fly behaviors are connected through different experiments. She works with lots of different flies that contributed to this research and said that there were lots of different experiments happening all at once. One of the experiments she was a part of was dissecting drosophila (also known as fruit flies). She dissected their brains so that they could be studied under a microscope to detect different proteins within the brain.
Tools Used:
– Microscopes
– Lots of vials containing flies with different mutation
– Carbon Dioxide Gas (to to put the flies to sleep)
– Computers (analyze data and look at images)
– Paintbrushes and feathers (used to carefully move the flies)
